This is Evan, my great-grandson, and today is his 9th birthday. He's spent a lot of time at the lake, with his grandpa (my son Rick), at his trailer. And he's been there all July with both grandparents, Rick & Barb. He fishes daily with his grandfather in his boat and is a very avid, excellent fisherman now! He's also one of the young ones of another generation to spend summers at the places my dad and his brothers built and began! Tradition continues!
This is my best friend Margaret. We grew up together, shared many laughs and giggles and shared our family life when we grew up and married. Many confidences passed between us and still, many laughs and much reminiscing. Today marks 10 years since she passed away and that has been a sad thing for me to think about. But Marg was a cheerful person and I can hear her saying 'oh come on now, this is what happens in real life, take it in stride.' So I am remembering the happy times with her as I go through my day, it's how she'd want it.
You can't see her face but this is my youngest great-granddaughter Violet, she is now 5 months old, sits up by herself and is a very happy baby.
Sisters, Violet and Hazel and Hazel is loving being a big sister. They are bonding nicely and happily.
Weight wise, I continue to struggle with my weight and will never give up the battle. Today I'm more mindful of what I put in my mouth and more mindful of moving my body, even if it's just to do leg exercises, I move it! I'm trying to get down to what would be a healthy weight for me.
Health wise, that's a different matter. I've been coughing for months and finally had tests at the hospital and have one more to go yet. That one will show whether I positively have COPD but my doctor is certain that I do. It would be responsible for the cough, wheeze and hard to breathe issue. But not to worry, he has put me on a new puffer that is nothing like any I've seen before, it is to help me breathe and I use it with one of my previous puffers. Good to know help is out there. But we wait for the last test and the results of it before we call it positively. Oh, and I've been tested for the Coronavirus, that test with the long swab up my nose and it really wasn't a bad test to get done at all. Anyhow, I don't have the virus and that's great to know!!
As many of you know, next week is a special birthday for me, my 85th. Maybe large in years but young in heart and spirit! Since my family now can't have a big celebration with all coming, I'm having several small ones with one or a couple of family each time. This is great, it's spreading my birthday over weeks and what fun to look forward to!! My favourite niece, Mame, who takes me year round to get groceries, have lunch and great visits together, has taken me out for a meal each year right on my exact birthday and next Wednesday she's taking me to the Red Lobster for lunch. That will be our celebration together. The following week another niece is taking me to my sister's home so the three of us can celebrate together and she is bringing my actual birthday cake. My daughter-in-law Barb wants to take me out for lunch or dinner, any day I choose, for her and I to celebrate. And my 3 daughters, bless them, want a get together at my place in September, so we can celebrate mine and all of their birthdays all at the same time. Our birthdays are close together so this is an excellent idea. So much to look forward to, my heart is filled with joy!!
I am a happy camper today and right this minute. I know I have a lot to be thankful for and I truly am. And so thankful I've been given these many years to share with family and friends. Oh happy days!
