Beyond Our Wildest Dreams.
“ Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
Ephesians 3: 20-21 NIV.
It was just a few days before the end of the year and our account was close to $8000.00 dollars in the negative with Avant. We had sent out a newsletter with an explanation and hoping that people would respond. As I read the above verse it gave me the confidence that God would do the impossible even as I wondered how He would or could. I began to pray that He would show His power and might so that I would clearly know that it was Him and not my own efforts. I then rested in the fact that He is God and He knows all of our needs and He will provide. When I received our statement my first thought was, “ Okay, God how are You going to answer this? When I read the bottom line I saw that we ended the year with a positive balance of $100.00. I then noticed that some of our regular donors had given over and above what they usually give and it totalled nearly $2000.00. So where did the other 6 come from? As I reread the statement I saw one gift for the $6000.00 dollar amount and it had come from a nephew of mine who had never supported us before. Talking with him later on he mentioned that his business had done really well that year and he felt that God wanted him to help us out with our negative balance. We were blown away that God had directed him to give the exact amount we needed to end in the black. We actually were stunned, amazed and totally grateful to God! He had answered our prayers beyond our wildest dreams and imaginations. In the years after that our nephew continued to give and we always have ended the year in a positive balance. That nephew now has sold his business and is preparing himself for missionary service in his hometown. God truly does “ above and beyond all that we can think or ask.” To Him be the glory!
These verses are often referred to as the doxology. Or prayer of praise. This is how we should live recognizing God’s ability and trusting and obeying Him in all things.
🙏Father, You certainly do immeasurably more than we can ask or even think. Your power is on display and I pray that it will be reflected in what I say or do. May You receive all the glory and praise that You deserve though Christ Jesus our Lord and in whose name I pray.
