July 31, 2020 CHOOSING A LEADER
Election year is always fun. Well, at it is at least interesting. To think that our choices as president are narrowed down to two imperfect people who continue to belittle one another is pretty sad. None of us like to watch the commercials of one candidate bashing another yet they continue to do it every election year. We have no choice but to vote for the lesser of two evils or just not vote at all. However, if we depended on that one person solely for the help we need, we would truly be disappointed.
That is why we need to choose only God as our leader. We don’t have to vote for Him. We don’t have to wonder if He is honest. We don’t have to worry about His imperfections. He has none. God is the greatest Leader we could choose to follow. He has great plans for us. He loves us. He created us. He knows our thoughts and desires. He wants us to succeed. And, when we trust in Him, He will give us many blessings. We are to surrender our lives to God following only Him and knowing He wants to lead us to live a wonderful life for Him and He will do us no harm.
Isaiah 45:18-19 “For the Lord is God, and he created the heavens and earth and put everything in place. He made the world to be lived in, not to be a place of empty chaos. ‘I am the Lord,’ he says, ‘and there is no other. I publicly proclaim bold promises. I do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner. I would not have told the people of Israel to seek me if I could not be found. I, the Lord, speak only what is true and declare only what is right.’” (NLT)
1. Write what you love about God.
2. List the great things He has done for you.
3. Remember there is no greater leader than God.
4. Keep your eyes on God in all things and choose to follow only Him.
Dear Lord, we know only You have our best interest at heart. We know if we follow anyone other than You, we will be disappointed, misled, and hopeless. Only You know what we need to do today and every day. Only You have the perfect plan created for each of us. Help us to remember there is no leader in this world who can do what You can do. Remind us of Your word so we can use it to make right choices in our lives as we serve You and help others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We are to surrender our lives to God and pray His will be done in our lives.
Matthew 16:24 “Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.’” (NLT)
God has great plans for us if we will only follow Him.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.’” (NLT)
We are to remember God’s teachings and obey Him knowing His plans for us are good.
Psalm 119:93 “I won’t ever forget your teachings, because you give me new life by following them.” (CEV)
