A New Day
Sunday, July 26, 2020
Today I went back to my little part time job in a ladies clothing store. I wore my
and chose the wrong one for the day
. Some I have tried seem to large and slide while others don't seem to cover tight enough.
The store is small and our limited number of customers right now is 15. Everyone who enters is to wear a mask. The sign is posted on the door so everyone knows before entering.
We were about an hour into the afternoon when a lady came in, came to the counter and let us know she wasn't wearing a mask because she has asthma. Our manager told her she would still need to wear a mask and admitted to the lady that she also has asthma but will be required to wear the mask. This happened with 2 or 3 customers at the counter to pay for purchases. The lady kept insisting that all the other stores allowed her to shop without the mask. Our manage said I am so sorry but our company has required us to enforce this rule. This went on by the lady expressing her displeasure and saying her constitutional rights were being violated. She threatened to speak to all her friends at church tonight so they would
know not to come shopping to the store anymore.
This is just another thing about a pandemic year that is frustrating!
The other customers were very nice to console our manager who was so upset she was shaking. I feel for all who have to "mask up" to go anywhere and I know how hard it might be for those with asthma and truthfully this manager was unable to work at the beginning of the Pandemic because of her own asthma.
For me, I will wear the mask and I have to say the job I did most of the 4 hours I was there was push the darn mask out of my eyes. I was steaming the clothes on the displays and every time I bent over the mask would slide in my eyes.
I'm guessing there are lots of us adapting to new procedures and wishing we could get back to our normal ways. You too?
