Humility is something that has to be seen and not heard. Humility is shown through actions. Those with humility don’t brag that they have it. Humility is sometimes confused with shyness because humble people are quiet and listen more than they talk. A humble person listens and puts other people first. Humble people realize their role in life and know they are just a small part of this big world. Humility is not being proud or arrogant. Humility is not thinking less of ourselves but thinking of ourselves less.

If we want wisdom, if we want peace, if we want favor and success, we need to practice humility. God promises many blessings to those who are humble. When we humble ourselves before God, we are putting Him first in our lives. We are letting go of pride and allowing Him to be in charge of our lives.
Being humble means to fear God knowing how great and powerful He is and acknowledging how small and insignificant we are. When we are humble, we do things God’s way rather than our own way. God wants us to humble ourselves before Him, call on His name, and turn from pride and wrongdoing.

2 Chronicles 7:14 “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” (NLT)

1. Write what humility means to you.
2. List ways you humble yourself before God.
3. Ask God what things you do that do not reflect humility.
4. Turn from those things and choose to obey and humble yourself before God.

Dear Lord, we pray You will help us better understand how to be humble servants for You. We know we can get puffed up with pride and think our way is better than Yours. We sometimes go off on our own without checking in with You. Help us to submit our lives to You and humbly serve You. Show us where there is any sin in our lives so we can turn from that sin and seek only You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Humility means we are to know we need God and live to please only Him.

Psalm 149:4 “For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation.” (CSB)

If we want God’s support, we need to humble ourselves before Him.

Psalm 147:6 “The Lord supports the humble, but he brings the wicked down into the dust.” (NLT)

God will give favor to those who are humble.

Proverbs 3:34 “Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor.” (ESV)
