Thought and Prayer for Sunday, July 19, 2020

Sunday, July 19, 2020

Time seems to go by so fast nowadays. Even with our new way we are doing things, the days just pass by as quickly as they come. There is not really a way to manage our time because we can’t make time stand still or speed time up; however, we can manage what we do with the time we have. Probably the worst thing we can do in life is put things off. Yet we all do it. With all the uncertainties life, it is so important we use our time wisely doing what is important in life rather than what feels good in the moment.

That being said, it is time to take stock of what really matters in life. To some it may be making money. To others it may be family, sports or travel. However, our first and foremost priority in life should be God. He is who we are to live for and to draw life from. When we don’t take time for God, we are missing out on so many great opportunities. He has wonderful plans for us to do good and to succeed in life. Let’s choose today to start managing our time better putting God as first in our lives.

Matthew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (NLT)

1. Write what you do to put God first in your life.
2. List ways you can improve in this area.
3. Know God should be first in all areas of your life.
4. Seek God today and put Him first in all you do.

Dear Lord, we know we waste so much time. We do things we feel like doing rather than what is right to do. We need to be better stewards of our time. There are many, many needs in this world where we can help others. There are many people suffering who need some support and love. We know You have a great plan for us and want to spend the rest of our days following Your path. Help us, we pray, to put You first in our lives, do Your will, and help those in need. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we put God first in our lives and trust in Him, He will give us perfect peace.

Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (NLT)

When we put God first in our lives and follow His will, we will succeed.

Philippians 3:14 “I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” (NLT)

When we put God first in our lives, He will give us strength to do His will.

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (NKJV)
