Today was a big day for our locals again as we held a yard sale to raise money for children's school supplies. Children will receive book bags filled with paper, pens, etc, shoes, and other needs associated with back to school.
We use our local park for the event and yard sale donations are accepted for a month before the event. We rented a cubicle at a nearby storage facility to house the donations until the day before the event. Yesterday we used trucks and transferred the items from storage to the park where we set them up on tables under the shelter. The heat was our enemy but we were able to get most of the items displayed by 8:30 ish. Below are a few snapshots of our efforts.
This photo is one of our children. Her name is "Lilly" and she loves to dress up and tried out this pair of red platform heels. She was heard saying, "oh, Mom I have to have these!'
We had tables and tables of clothes, shoes, handbags, home goods, lamps , linens, etc.
This table and the area around it was all toys!
We felt that Covid-19 affected the number of people who came and we did have lots of left-over goods which will now be given to homeless shelters, foster parenting groups, kidney foundation and others as needs are met.
It was easy getting the steps in today and my body is letting me know it was hours spent for a good cause!
