One of the hardest things to do is to admit our mistakes. However, we all make them. We all mess up. We aren’t perfect. When we acknowledge this, we can choose to admit what we did wrong, learn from it and move on. When we don’t admit our mistakes, the truth will still come out and we will lose trust from others. Admitting our mistakes has many benefits while hiding our mistakes has none.

Failure happens. We can attempt to hide it or deny it or run from it but it happens. However, when we admit our mistakes and get them out in the open, we can move on. Failure occurs because we are human and mess up. But we can learn from failure, change our direction, be more humble and sympathetic towards others, and experience personal growth.

It is the same with sin. When we confess our sins and turn to God, He will remove the guilt, the pain and the embarrassment of what we did wrong. He will make things right if we sincerely turn from our sin and trust in Him. Hiding sin is like hiding failure or not admitting our mistakes. It separates us from God. It cause us to feel alone and uneasy. It eats away at us making us more bitter day after day. Let’s choose to confess our sin so we can rid ourselves of what is keeping us from living in obedience to God.

Proverbs 28:13 “People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.” (NLT)

1. Write what you need to confess to God.
2. List things you need to admit to others.
3. Know confession is good for the soul.
4. Remember a right relationship with God means to admit your sin.

Dear Lord, we want to confess our wrongdoing to You. We pray You will forgive us for all we have done that is not in line with Your will and we thank You for Your forgiveness. We admit we have done wrong, we have sinned, we have failed. Show us who we need to seek forgiveness from in our wrongdoing and how to make things right. We want to follow You and admitting our sin is the first step. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we admit our sin to God and turn from it, we will experience a new life in Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (NLT)

If we confess our sin to God, He will forgive us and cleanse us.

1 John 1:8-9 “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” (NLT)

If we deny any wrong done in our lives, we are denying God.

1 John 1:10 “If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.” (NLT)
