Thought and Prayer for Monday, July 13, 2020

Much has been written about living our best life. In fact, we have information overload. Living our best life means we are successful having all we need but we are also giving to others. We are striving to be better yet we are content with what we have and who we are. The issues in the world can keep us from living our best life but only if we allow them to. But to live our best life fully we need to seek God.

We can’t really live our best life without God. He is who created us and He knows the best plans for our lives. We can live a life without God but it won’t be our best life. Who knows best how things work other than their creator? God created us and He knows best how we work. Going to Him and seeking His guidance will help us to truly live our best life. We can find out how to live our best life in God’s word. Living our best life means to live for God and not for man or anything in this world.

Mark 8:34-37 “Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, ‘If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?’” (NLT)

1. Write what you do to live your best life.
2. List what God tells you to do in His word.
3. Know living your best life for God means obeying Him.
4. Remember to live for God and not for man.

Dear Lord, we are so grateful for Your word. It is what we need to direct us to live our best life. Christ died for us so we could turn from our sin and live for You. Remind us in all we do that we are to live for You and not man. Remind us we are to work hard doing Your will and telling others about Your love, Your grace, Your peace and Your mercy. Living our best life begins and ends with You, Lord. Thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We are to work only for God in all we do.

Colossians 3:23 “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” (NLT)

Jesus came so we could enjoy life and live out our purpose for God.

John 10:10 “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” (NLT)

Philippians 2:12b-13 “Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” (NLT)

Philippians 4:13 “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (NLT)
