Day 145 - Setting Some Goals for the Week
Sunday, July 12, 2020
I thought maybe it would be a good idea to set some goals for this week.
1. Take at least one walk per day of at least 1 mile.
2. Get in at least 25 miles walking.
3. Film at least 4 Pilates videos this week.
Earlier today I went for a walk and managed 2.46 miles. I'm hoping to get in another walk before dinner. I've really been wanting to walk twice per day (morning and before dinner) on the days I don't teach dance classes. When I do teach dance classes, I'm hoping to at least get in my morning walk. Those days end up being two shower days because I feel weird going to work already sweaty, but I get sweaty at work too. The other days I usually just wait to the end of the day. No point taking a shower when you're just going to sweat soon after (unless you're going to work). I've been so focused on the walks because I wanted to get at least 1,000 miles walking this year, but surgery in February set me back quite a bit. I can still reach the goal, but I'm going to have to really work for it now. I have just over 350 miles so far.
As for the Pilates videos, I'm trying to get a decent youtube channel going with various workouts. But I'm doing the progression from Fundamental to Introductory to Beginning to Intermediate to Advanced. I'm not skipping around because I, too, am in need of building this since the surgery in February was to remove my gall bladder and thus took my abs out of commission for a little while. So right now, I've got 20 Fundamental videos up. Each video progresses on the previous one by adding only one new exercise or increasing the repetitions on 1-3 exercises. I've got 9 more to finish my Fundamental series. Then I'll start on the Introductory series.
My focus on food for the time being is vague and mostly undefined. I'm trying to eat healthy within the parameters of what doesn't make me feel bad (nausea or bloating / gas or diarrhea). Once I figure out what I can and cannot eat, I'll try to find some baby steps to eating healthier. Oh, I almost forgot, I'm also trying to eat within my calorie range each day. I find I actually tend to under-eat most days. I assume that this is due in part to not feeling super awesome. But I also think this has some to do with our society bombarding us with the message that in order to lose weight, we need to eat less. The problem with this is that there is a point where you put your body into starvation mode. So I'm trying to hit the bottom of my calorie range every day. If I eat a little more, that's even better. I've also been trying to find ways to make that goal through increasing protein. I know I eat plenty of carbs (if not too many as they are easier on an upset stomach) and too much fat sends my system into a tailspin. I'm hoping to soon be able to increase my intake of healthy fats (such as full-fat dairy, nuts, etc.)
So hopefully that gives you a picture of where I am. ***Side note: I'd prefer not to receive any nutritional advice at this time. I am working with a friend who is a nutrition coach and food is very difficult for me. Thanks for respecting my wishes in this matter.***
I hope everyone has a great week! Don't forget to share your goals in the comments!
