July 12, 2020 ALL DAY LONG
Some of us probably have habits we do all day long. Some of us may fidget. Some may whistle. Others may have bad habits they feel they can’t live without. We have consciously or unconsciously made them a part of our routine. They happen as naturally as breathing does. But there is one habit that we need to create that will benefit us now and forever. That is living a holy life.
God calls us to live a holy life. He says we are to be holy in everything we do. We do a lot of things all day long so this is very important to understand. When we get up, we are to get into God’s word and meditate on it. When we are getting ready in the mornings, going through our day and as we go to bed, we are to think about what we are doing and if we are following God’s will for us to be holy.
Holiness cannot be achieved without God in our lives. Holiness means living a godly life in everything we do. It takes time to build a relationship with God to live a holy life. It takes strength and wisdom. It takes willingness to do right every day. It’s a process and it is attainable. Holiness is what we should strive for every day. With daily habits and consistency, and the power of God, we can live a holy life all day long.
1 Corinthians 1:30 “God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.” (NLT)
1. Write about what holiness means from God’s word.
2. List ways you can develop spiritually to be more holy.
3. Know God’s will is for you to live a holy life in all you do.
4. Meditate on His word throughout the day and seek His help to live a holy life.
Dear Lord, we thank You that holiness is attainable. We know we can’t be holy without Jesus in our hearts and lives. We are human. We are living in a world of sin. Holiness is not possible without You. We want a right relationship with You so we can be filled with holiness and righteousness. We know You want us to live a holy life and live a life pleasing to You. Help us as we give our lives to You today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Hebrews 12:14 “Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.” (NLT)
2 Corinthians 7:1 “Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.” (NLT)
1 Thessalonians 4:7 “For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.” (NIV)
Leviticus 20:7-8 “So set yourselves apart to be holy, for I am the Lord your God. Keep all my decrees by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord who makes you holy.” (NLT)
Thank God for His holiness and that we can find it when we look to Him.
1 Peter 1:15-16 “But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, ‘You must be holy because I am holy.’” (NLT)
