Wake up call

Wednesday, July 08, 2020

I have realized for a while that diabetes is no joke. It is a hidden disease, a social stigma that those without diabetes assume because you are fat is the reason you have diabetes. I have watched 2 cousins undergo dialysis and now, what I am calling "my wake up call", I am watching another cousin fight and not winning her battle with diabetes. Our situations are not exactly alike and I know that, however, the reality of her losing her leg, not a toe, not from the knee down, but her whole leg. Reality slapped me, again. I have a journal but life gets busy and I jot down what I ate or what I did for exercise or my thoughts and feelings. I guess I will try blogging and Spark tracking to see if that will be successful in helping me figure out my own reality. emoticon

I have a few friends who have to be careful with this and it definitely takes planning those carbs and staying with the safe foods. Good news= emoticon

Most times type 2 can be reversed (not always) but type 1 can’t 😢 it is a scary diagnosis for sure! So many complications, big hugs!!
