1st Week Back to Work
Monday, July 06, 2020
Greetings all. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and our American members had a nice holiday. I have been back to work since Thursday. Trying to follow my eating pattern has been a little difficult, but I did meet my minimum goals for protein and fluids.
One thing I have noticed since surgery; my circadian rhythm has reset. I would normally go to bed between 2-3 am and naturally wake between 11 am and 12 pm. It is one of the reasons evening/mid-shift works so well for me, and covering nights is easier than days. After surgery, I found myself waking between 6 – 8 am, and zonked out by 11 pm. I am on my third 12-hour night shift, and I got just over 5 hours of sleep both yesterday and today. I am DRAGGING by the time 6 am rolls around, mentally and physically. I am really hoping that I can get back to my old pattern, or my preferred work schedule is going to be torture.
As I am exposed to more foods at work, I am starting to get cravings. Some things will be doable, if I make the item myself to control sugar and fat content. There are things that I may be able to partake of in small amounts, 9 months down the road, but I need to be patient and let my body fully heal. I did give in to one craving; the Bush’s Baked Beans commercial got to me. I could probably make my own, but that would be a large batch, and my mom has to limit the amount she eats because of her IBS, pop shouldn’t eat them because of his kidney disease, I can only eat about an ounce at a time. It’s not something that will freeze well, and I don’t want to worry about the left overs going bad. So, I got one can and I have enjoyed them without any problem.
I did check my weight this morning, and I am almost to the 20 lb. lost mark, and people at work have noticed. I am also back in large scrubs!! I hated the XL, they are unisex and they are too long in the inseam, so they always felt like that were falling off.
