July 4, 2020 FEELING FREE?
It’s hard to focus on freedom when so many are hurting. It’s hard to focus on our freedom when we are dealing with violence, sickness and blame. We have people hurting one another. We have a virus with no known cure. We have politicians pointing fingers at one another and media stirring things up. We have restrictions when we go out in public and people with lost jobs. The list of difficulties in this world goes on and on.
But there is hope. There is a freedom we can choose despite what happens in this world. Yes, our country fought many years ago so we could celebrate and live in a free world so we can speak out, defend ourselves and enjoy equal rights. Our nation was created to be one nation under God. When we move away from God, chaos happens. Despite the chaos in the world right now, we can have an even better freedom that will last forever. God created us to be free. His word is truth and can set us free!
John 8:32 “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (NLT)
1. Write what you know about freedom that comes from God.
2. List what you can do to learn more about that freedom.
3. Know God’s truth will set you free.
4. Pray asking God to help you stay in His word and experience His freedom for your life.
Dear Lord, we know we are only free because of Jesus who did for our sins. There is nothing this world offers that makes us truly free. We can only experience true freedom when we have a right relationship with You. Help us stay in Your word and remember the truths You have for us. Thank You for the freedom from sin and death You promise to us. Your truth will truly set us free. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Galatians 3:22 “But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.” (NLT)
1 Corinthians 10:23 “’I have the right to do anything,’ you say—but not everything is beneficial. ‘I have the right to do anything’—but not everything is constructive.” (NIV)
1 Corinthians 8:9 “But you must be careful so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble.” (NLT)
2 Corinthians 3:17 “For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (NLT)
