Yes, another birthday already!
A lot of candles have been added to the cake--and i could use your help blowing them out--lol. This year I have a lot to celebrate and be thankful for. I am happy for getting through another year and making some great accomplishments!
For one, I decided over a year ago to write my memoir and on January 28 of this year it was published! Life is wonderful because it was a spontaneous adventure, nothing I had planned. (Shanna Lee James is my author name).
One thing I am thankful for is Chris Downey for founding spark people.com and for YOU! I had no idea when I started writing blogs after joining in 2008, it would give me so much experience and confidence to write my book, and now am into the editing and revision of my second book. I expect that to be ready for print before the end of 2020.
But for the health part of sparks, I am forever grateful for sparks and for YOU as I truly have made health and fitness a part of my lifestyle, and my husband included.
The sweet bird of youth does not last but at my age, my concerns are not so much having a tiny waist line, like I once did. Some of the things I consider very important are things like bone health---strong bones and muscle.
That is the framework of our very being--and I want to stay strong. Five years ago, in a doctors visit, he took me off Fosamax, a med for strengthening bone, as I had shown such improvement with my last bone scan, he said I no longer needed it.
I watched my diet to make sure I was getting adequate calcium but made weight bearing exercise a daily habit. One thing he said before I left was; "Just keep up with your walking, climb stairs, (did 3 steep flights at work several times a day) and strength training exercises.
That is how my year went and I wanted to share. This is what I deem most important going into my 74th year!
