June 30, 2020 IN THE END
It was Stephen Covey who said to begin with the end in mind. This means we are to think about what outcome we want and then take steps to get there. When we focus on the end result, we will make better choices about what we need to do to reach that goal we have in life. What does that mean for our lives? What is our end? Well, there are two answers. There is the very end of time when Christ returns and there is the end of our life here on earth. We should ask ourselves daily what we can do that will make a difference to others before we reach the end of our lives. We have many choices we can make but there is really only one right choice.
We are to live for God. He should be the center of our lives today and every day. He wants our praise. He wants our obedience. He wants our love. We are saved by the grace and mercy of God through Christ Jesus. We can live with great anticipation for that wonderful day when Jesus returns. We have a priceless inheritance that this world cannot give. We have the hope of salvation which is a gift from God that no one can ever take away from us. And it is the best gift we could ever, ever receive! We are to share this Good News with others so they can be saved and know our great and wonderful Heavenly Father. Our end is eternal life and every day we should be working toward that end.
1 Peter 1:3-5 “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.” (NLT)
1. Write about when you were saved.
2. List what promises God gives to those who believe in Him.
3. Remember to share God’s word with others.
4. Be sure to tell them about all of His wonderful gifts.
Dear Lord, we know we have wonderful promises from You. We know You have the best plan for our lives. We know when we follow Your will, we will succeed. Help us to remember every day to follow Your will. Guide us today, we pray. We want to begin the day with the end in mind when You return to this earth to complete Your perfect plan. We want to live for only You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We are called to reconcile others to God. That means sharing His word and telling others what He has done for us.
2 Corinthians 5:17-18 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.” (NLT)
Titus 2:12-14 “And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.” (NLT)
Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (NLT)
We are to prepare our minds for action by getting into God’s word, following the Holy Spirit’s guidance and living a life like Christ.
1 Peter 1:13 “So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.” (NLT)
