Thought and Prayer for Saturday, June 27, 2020

Saturday, June 27, 2020

If we have learned anything over these past few months, we have learned the need for others in our lives. Staying alone or just with our family is good for a while but without the interaction of friends and co-workers, our life seems a little out of whack. The more distance we put between ourselves and others, the harder it will be to restore those relationships later on. Getting involved with virtual groups is an option to help us stay connected with the outside world.

We need refreshment, renewal and restoration. We can obtain these things through our own actions, through the word of God, His Holy Spirit and other people. Our own actions can be as simple as reading encouraging words in Scripture, enjoying nature or listening to worship songs. We can allow God’s Holy Spirit to speak to us through His word. We can join a group of believers who need to hear encouraging words and who are going through some of the same issues we are dealing with. If we want refreshment in life, we need to give to others and help them.

Proverbs 11:25 “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” (NLT)

1. Write what God says about being renewed and refreshed.
2. List the things you can do that bring hope and renewal to you.
3. Know it is your responsibility to encourage others in God’s word.
4. Seek out groups to be a part of who can help you and who you can help.

Dear Lord, we are so grateful for the ways we can be refreshed. We are so thankful Your words can give us life. Help us to be more aware of the ways we can refresh ourselves and others. We want to be encouraging to those who are going through hard times. We want to belong to a group of believers who we can share with and stay connected to during these troubling times. Show us Your way, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God can renew our spirits and create a clean heart within us.

Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.” (NLT)

God’s word is the refreshment we need for our souls.

Psalm 19:7 “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” (NIV)

We are called to encourage others every day. What can we do today to show encouragement to others?

Hebrews 3:13 “But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.” (CSB)
