Why Pray? Matthew 6:9-13. June 26 2020.
“Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” Luke 6:12
Is your world hanging by a thread? Has this pandemic made you feel emotionally drained? Does your future seem uncertain? Is it going from bad to worse in your life? If so do you feel like asking God why pray? It seems like prayer will no longer help your situation. Take heart, because in prayer we do find hope and help for all of our problems.
Prayer forces us to focus on God and not our situation. When we are going through hard times it is easy to focus on the darkness around us. But prayer causes us to look at the source of our help, the One who never fails us. When we focus on Christ our hearts will stop from being anxious. Peace will flood our souls.
Prayer also gives us to witness to others about what God is doing in our lives. He wants to build a personal relationship with each one of us. He draws near to us as we draw near to Him in worship and prayer. He offers us acceptance and assurance in these difficult times.
Through Prayer we understand God’s love . Prayer is a direct line of communication to God. As we pray we offer adoration. We confess our sins and repent of them, we express thanksgiving to Him. Finally we can offer supplication or petitions for the things that are heaven on our hearts.
Is the world crumbling all around you? Then this is the time that we need to pray the most. Prayer gives us hope, because it leads straight to the throne of God were Christ intercedes on our behalf. We have total access in our times of need but also when things are good and is moving forward. Go to Him in prayer at all times.
