The Priority of Prayer. Matthew 6:5-8 June 25 2020.
“The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.”
What is your prayer life like? Is it a few words offered up without much thought. To many Christians this is their prayer life. Only in times of desperation or tragedy is any real thought put into their words spoken to God. I trust that you are not like this.
Prayer is so much more than that. It needs to be communication with God as you share your heart to Him, and He shares His heart to you. After which we must respond to what He tells us. We must walk in the direction that He leads and wants us to go.
Prayer should not be an afterthought to our busy days, prayer must be constant. It needs to be maintain and established in our lives much the same way as us getting up each morning from our beds.
Jesus is our example, He spent much time in prayer as well as teaching us about prayer. He modelled the life of prayer, by escaping and communing with His Father. If we want to become more like Christ than we too must imitate His actions and His words. Our actions must speak louder than our words in this case.
Jesus kept and maintain a relationship with His Heavenly Father as He obeyed Him. He knew that the Father would hear Him . As the verse above states, “He hears the prayers of the righteous.” Prov 15:29.
We must not be careless with our prayers. We need to have serious conversations with God in order to understand His will.
