June 22, 2020 HAVE MERCY

If we look hard enough in this world, we will see people who show mercy to others. They are kind, compassionate, and sympathetic. We have to look past the news, the media, and the negativity in this world to see them but they are here. Some acts of mercy we never hear about and some are told for us to remember to have hope and to show mercy ourselves.

We learned about mercy from God. We show mercy to others because He shows mercy to us. Every day, God shows His mercy by forgiving us of our sin. He shows His mercy by being compassionate to us despite how we act. We are so blessed He is slow to get angry and full of mercy. However, there will be a time when there is no turning back to God. If the wicked don’t change their ways, there will be consequences. God shows His mercy through salvation for all who turn to Him. If we don’t know Jesus, now is the time to repent and experience the great mercy, promises and blessings of God.

SCRIPTURE:
Isaiah 55:6-7 “Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write who you know that is not saved.
2. List how you can share about God’s mercy with them.
3. Know God wants you to tell others about Him.
4. Seek opportunities to share God’s word about mercy today.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we pray for the lost. We pray they will hear Your word and turn from their sin. We thank You for Your mercy to us and for forgiving us. We are so grateful to be saved by the blood of Jesus. Help us to share Your word with those who don’t know You so they can experience Your mercy as well. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
Romans 11:22 “Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is severe toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you continue to trust in his kindness. But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off.” (NLT)

Exodus 34:6 “The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out, ‘Yahweh! The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.’” (NLT)

Psalm 86:15 “But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.” (NLT)

Ephesians 2:4-5 “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)” (NLT)

Hebrews 4:16 “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (NLT)

FOCUS:
Romans 9:16 “So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it.” (NLT)
