This quarantine has been crazy, for sure. I canceled my trip to Peru. Meanwhile, I've been working "with" my husband, raising funds which I send him, and he buys food staples and cleaning supplies for those hit hardest by the quarantine in his community in Pucallpa. We call the mission "Bags of Blessing or Bolsas de Bendiciones.
Because the JCC closed for the quarantine, I ended up putting back on TWENTY FIVE POUNDS! I did try to maintain fitness using my stationary bike. But I have slacked off, especially as temperatures have risen.
But this morning, as my bowels woke me at 5 am (what my son calls the "buttcrack" of dawn) I decided to get on the bike before it got too hot. It's a Sunday, a good day for beginning anew.
And my friend told me the community center is looking to reopen by appointment early next month. So maybe, just maybe, we can get back into the pool! Man, I'd like to go DAILY!
I will probably not be able to get back to what I was PRE quarantine by the time I resume work in September (IF school reopens!) But I'd like to at least head in the right direction.
I do have some positive things going, though. I'd started a medication for lowering my cholesterol. Friday I went to the doctor (all masked up!) 3 months after starting it, and the good news is, it has been very effective for getting my LDL's down! And my BP was deemed good (138/80).
And while I am not as fast or as flexible as I was in my youth, I am for the most part pain free (like, I don't take anything for pain). So, all in all, life is good.
