It's Summer Time Baby! LOL

Saturday, June 20, 2020

"Happy 1st Day of Summer" and I truly wish a wonderful summer for you! We are in phase 2 here and can be in small groups of friends and small groups of family ... if we wish. However, as much as I want this, being in the 'older' age bracket, I will still wait a while. No rush as long as I can talk online to family & friends and my niece and my son's wife continue to come over.

Mixed things going on since my last blog. I finally got out of my apt building on Wednesday, just to my heart doctor's to be hooked up with a heart monitor. It wasn't bad to wear and easy to sleep with it on because it was small but I was happy to be able to take it off this morning. Where the monitor was hooked up to three thingys on my chest, it got itchy under those patches. And oh my, I longed for a shower, which can't be when wearing this monitor. Happy Days ... I had the longest shower and washed my hair! I feel so clean now and it was the first time for me to wash my newer shorter hair cut. Straight and easy to care for but the back needs to be cut shorter still when my hairdresser comes this week.

My youngest great-granddaughter Violet will be 4 months old this coming week. I know, I know, where did that time go to? Photo taken this morning shows her happy personality and as I can see, she has her mom's beautiful colouring ... her mom is Spanish. Beautiful baby and so happy!

My other great-granddaughter and Violets 'big sister' Hazel, walking in the river with her mom. Dad took the photo, he is carrying Violet in a body halter ... good dad!

Sad news this week though, I guess we can't have all happy, right? My wee canary Sassy passed away. I knew she was going to as she wasn't acting her usual self. I only had her 5 years, got her from a breeder who had bred her ... a lot! But our 5 years together were happy ones and I cling to that memory.

I had to think long and hard to decide if I want to get another little canary and have decided on no. Although I love these birds and they can be beautiful singers and wonderful little companions, I've been finding that cleaning her cage is taking me longer and it is getting harder for me to do. If that sounds odd, I can't help it, I have to sit and do it and am forever getting up because I've forgotten something I need to clean it. With my wonky leg, this is getting harder on me.

Same as getting my groceries, my niece has been bringing them every two weeks and asked if I'd like to get out this week with her to go grocery shopping. Another thing I needed to think hard about and decided no, not yet. I'd LOVE to get out but I'm in the age bracket where we need to be extra careful because we seem to get this virus easier. And since I already have lung problems, it was a no brainer to say NO. I am too, too afraid of getting this virus! I will wait another two weeks till my next grocery run and see how things are then.

Well now, I've caught you up on what needs catching up on ... except my diet and exercising programs! I'd rather not even respond to that, lol, sorry but though I haven't been gaining any weight, I could have worked harder and lost some these past months! And I do tend to shy away from my leg exercises. I need a good emoticon in the behinder,. You're welcome to leave one in the comments if you wish! LOL

Enjoy your Saturday, the first day of Summer. This day won't come again for another year!

"CHEERS!"

Sorry to hear about Sassy. I am the same way- don't want anymore animals to care for. The arthritis would make it hard on me. So what you said is not odd- makes sense for you too.
Your family is so adorable. Glad they help you out with shopping.
Covid19 is worse again down here in FL, so we've cut way back on going out. It's the younger ones causing the spike. Guess they learned the hard way, by disregarding social distance rules and staying away from others, like at bars, restaurants or parties.
Take care sweet friend. Big emoticon

I understand about the grocery store. I go out maybe every two to three weeks and last week my mom decided she wanted to come out with me. After we came home she said she doesn't want to go into another one any time soon. When I go my mom comes but she stays in the car. She just wants to get out of the house and that seems to work for her. Maybe you can do that as well.

Your grandbabies are adorable. I can't get over how much Hazel has grown. Violet has that beautiful head of hair.

Good for you that you got for a tad even if it was to the Doctors. Oh I bet that shower and washing your hair was like Heaven. Better to be safe on going to the store, if you have people that can help out when you need something that would be great if they could pick things up for you.
It was a Hot and humid one here today 93 and a repeat for Sun, Monday. You be safe in this heat drink lots of water.
Love the pictures, sweet as always. emoticon emoticon

Love the pictures, Gloria, and sorry to hear about Sassy.

I think you are being very wise to take things easy. We are too. I believe too many people are going back to normal way too fast, and I do not want to put myself at risk.

I am glad that you have help with errands, etc.

    Be careful and be safe,
    Hugs, Gail

I'm so sorry about your loss of Sassy - they burrow into our hearts, don't they?!? I completely understand about your decision not to get another, though. Sometimes the amount of care they need is physically beyond what we're comfortably able to do, and of course we want what is best for THEM, too.

    Your little great-granddaughters are beautiful!!!

We are still staying home too. If I must go out I wear a mask... we go only to places that wear masks... we do miss our travels but we want to live to enjoy life longer..

emoticon Here's your kick in the behinder, Gloria! Just do one set of the exercises today, then one set tomorrow, etc. you want to be able to walk when this is all over.
Yes, we are the "older set" that they say are most vulnerable to this virus. I am fortunate to bein Alaska where there are comparatively minimal cases. I do go out, but with my mask on and practice distancing.
    Your Greats are adorable.

Happy 1st day of summer to you too! Go with your niece to get your groceries but stay in the car (with air conditioner on) while she shops. That way at least you get out of the house.
