Better 6 feet apart than 6 feet under...............

Since the Pandemic began, the ways to keep from getting the virus that have proven most effective are, Staying Home, Washing Hands often, Staying at least 6' from each other if you have to go out, Wearing a Mask, Not touching your face, Avoiding groups of more than 10 people, etc.

This works................yet there are those who believe that they don't have to follow any of these suggestions...........so they don't................and then wonder why the number of positive cases of COVID increase. There is a false sense of security which could well lead to a second wave of the virus, but for whatever reason, this is NOT reason for caution.

I hear you. My eyes have been opened to how self-centered, egocentric, and bent towards instant gratification so many of my acquaintances are. I can not understand their tirades about how 'they are going to live their lives and no one is going to stop them'. Blows my mind how many are insistent on traveling to other states to go the the beach regardless of how many cases of the virus there are. They aren't going to change their vacation plans for anything...etc., etc., etc.

It is amazing how some people just don't seem to be able to understand normal limitations for health issues.

I was voicing my concerns about this very topic and a friend pointed out to me that when our governmental officials don't wear masks and say that the virus is "dying out," then some people take their cue from that and don't believe it's serious.

I, myself, listen to what the scientists and experts say, not politicians. When I'm out wearing my mask and social distancing, I feel very happy when I see others with masks because I know they care, not only about themselves, but about me (others), too.

There are some people no matter what the rules, will not comply. Those are the people I avoid.

I also am one who does not understand it all. I do what I have to do, avoid who I have to, and life goes on.

People tend to be stupid. When those who choose to flaunt the restrictions, then complain “see, I told you it wouldn’t work!” it just goes to show big mobs are stupider.

Our state has let nail salons, gyms, indoor dining, theaters open on the 17th. I am watching the numbers to see if the numbers go up. I am going to the gym on Monday. You have to make a reservation as only 14 in a class and 12 in the water.

I agree with you totally, Patty. The number of cases here in my county has gone down, but it has not disappeared, and we still have to follow precautions and recommendations. Our governor has now issued requirements that mask be worn in public spaces indoors in the counties where the virus is still spreading. Clearly that was a factor in the large outbreak at a Rural Oregon church that ignored limits on group size and Did not stay 6 feet apart, crowded together, No masks, hugging, dancing by and singing. Over 240 infected.

They are selfish and stupid and the reason why this virus will linger on and on and kill so many more people.

emoticon .... Saw a group of older people huddled up (about 10 of them) ... shoulder to shoulder.... in some kind of celebration for students graduating. None wore masks. .... They were all grandparents age. Go figure. My very own neighbor squatted down to talk to a toddler the other day and she was right in his face. ....

Totally agree with you....it is so frustrating!! Living in an area in FL that is a vacation destination AND is currently seeing a huge spike in the # of Covid cases, is scary. Having followed all safety procedures for months, I applaud the local mayors who are making masks mandatory at 5 PM tonight!

I wish someone could explain it to me, too. I think those who don't believe should follow a patient who is struggling to recover from Covid, AND the healthcare workers fighting to keep them alive. Might change their mind. **SGH**

I don't get it either Patti! Our cases have been steadily declining and I see more and more people not wearing masks, large gatherings, etc. I'm sure it won't be long before our cases start to rise again.

    Stay safe!

The trouble is that the media has us frightened of our own shadow but some people think that are immortal.
