enjoying food

One of the things I read in an article that really hit me was that we need to change our mind set. It is not about avoiding things that are not good for you. It's about enjoying things that are. This week I've decided that I need to start enjoying food again. I'm working from home so I have no excuse for not making dinner and I need to break from the I'm hungry what is around to eat or what should we order mentality and start enjoying food.
I cleaned out the fridge yesterday and tossed a bunch of stuff that went bad--it is not my job to consume things my nephew and hubby buy. If it goes bad and I have to toss it--that is their loss not mine.
I discovered that we had four containers of parmesan cheese--all open. So I made a from cobbled leftovers a noodle alfredo--no it was not low calorie or anything like that. But I cooked and made it from scratch and had it for dinner and deeply enjoyed it. The rest of my day was more on target and overall I enjoyed eating yesterday more than I have in a very long time.
Tonight I'm making pancakes and knowing that is helping me make think about what I'm going to eat leading up to dinner.
