Week Two Check In

The first week of the summer challenge was pretty successful for me. Weigh-in day was Wednesday, and I was down 5.8 pounds! I have resisted sugar since the start, but last night I made some unwise choices in snack food. I broke two rules; I opened a bag of Boom Chika Pop popcorn and began eating it without portioning into a bowl first, and I sat down in front of the TV, and ate it until about 3/4's of the bag was gone emoticon . Ah, c'est la vie, I will do better today.

I went to see my PT on Tuesday, and asked whether I should see an ortho. He kindly told me that they will likely say, "come back when you can't stand it any longer and we'll do a knee replacement." HUMPH! He is a pretty holistic practitioner, and I like that, so I asked whether he thought I could get my knee to a state of - oh, I don't know - comfort? He told me I can. I know it will take a lot of work, but I can do it! Like he said, food is medicine, and I know that by continuing to strengthen it, and by continuing to lose weight, and by making better choices in nutrition, I can definitely get it (really THEM, it's just that one is worse than the other right now), back into shape! Yesterday I went for an easy ten mile bike ride with my son, and that went fine. I plan to do ten mile rides for a week or so, then add next week.

I know the big weight loss over the first week of the challenge is mostly water, but I figure if I continue to lose 1 - 3 pounds per week, I should hit my goal weight by my birthday in September. I really want to succeed. I have many false beliefs in my head that I must constantly fight, but this time, I think I'll win!
