June 12, 2020 JOIN IN!
We all want to fit in. In school, we wanted to fit in with the popular group and get into the best programs and clubs. We wanted to be liked and noticed. We wanted to belong to a group with people who were interested in us and liked us. However, when we put our hope in being liked by others and fitting in with the crowd, we will find ourselves alone and unhappy. We can’t please other people all the time. Our attempt to fit in with the crowd will leave us empty and alone.
The good news is God wants us to belong to His group of believers. We can choose to follow Him and join believers all over the world who will love and accept us just as we are. We have to be saved to get into the Kingdom of God. The path is narrow but it is possible to travel. It means giving up what is popular for what is true and right. Not many people take the narrow path because it seems lonely but God will be with us as we travel that narrow path through life and we will have all we need. To get on the right path with God, we need to believe in Him and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Matthew 7:13-14 “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” (NLT)
1. Write what you groups you wanted to belong to.
2. List what you are doing now to belong to the Kingdom of God.
3. Know a group of believers will help you grow more than the people of the world.
4. Seek other believers and choose today to join the Kingdom of God.
Dear Lord, we seek so many places in this world to belong. We want to fit in. We want to be liked. However, time and time again, we are disappointed because we are not fully filled by the groups of the world. We can only be happy by submitting to You and fellowshipping with other believers. Help us to stop trying to fit in with the crowds in this world who will lead us away from You and start getting more involved with other believers who are working to do Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Only by believing Jesus died for our sins and repenting of those sins will we be able to enter the Kingdom of God.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (NKJV)
There is a narrow, but passable, path to enter the Kingdom of God. His word will tell us how to travel that path.
Luke 13:24 “Work hard to enter the narrow door to God’s Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail.” (NLT)
The only way to God is through Jesus.
John 14:6 “Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” (NLT)
