It has been a little over 5 years since my SIL was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer. They removed part of a lung, and she has been on chemo and did a month of intensive radiation treatments. Five years is a very important milestone for this kind of cancer! She just got a good report from her doctors at Sloan-Kettering, so things are looking pretty good currently.
As for my personal milestones the most important one for our purposes is my sparkversary. Nine years on the site as of May 28th. I lost 110 pounds the first year, and 50 the second year. I maintained that loss for about 5 years, then life happened and I gained back about 60 pounds. I am slowly working to reverse that now. It is harder the second time around. I wish I had been more vigilant when the scale started going up, but no crying over spilt milk! I have lost about 20 pounds since the COVID crisis started. I just need to keep that weight trend moving in the right direction. I can do it, I have proven that to myself 7-8 years ago. I just have to apply what I know works for me.
Since I have been on SparkPeople for 9 years it also means that I adopted my Cooper-dog 9 years ago as well. He was one year old when I adopted him, so he is ten now. Most of the time I cannot tell he is that old, except recently he has slowed down a little on our morning walks. We are averaging about 5 miles a day for the year so far... not too bad! I think I used up all his mileage over the past 9 years. For a few years there we were averaging closer to 10 miles a day! We were both more active then.
