Day 20

Friday, June 05, 2020

It has been 20 days since my little brother died. His funeral was last Tuesday.

I suppose at some point, I will quit counting the days. I can't quite help it though. It is still too new. It's still the overwhelming thing in my family.

My family has been in Minneapolis for the protests a few times. The death of George Floyd has also upset me greatly; maybe because it happened so close to the death of my brother. The day before his funeral. In fact, I couldn't go to the first protests because of the funeral. I didn't feel up to it.

Both deaths are so senseless. So unnecessary. So wrong.

So what happened to your brother? I'm so sorry.

In April, my nephew's son was killed in a drunk driving accident, not wearing a seat belt and driving an old 2003 van without an airbag and he ran off the road and hit a culvert. My nephew who lived with us from birth to age 7 because our older sister worked, was so upset over his only son's death that he cried every day for a month and then collapsed and died from heart failure. He was 65. So, we have all been so upset over their senseless deaths. emoticon

You know the actor Drew Carey. His older brother died and at his funeral he was talking to his younger brother about their health and they decided not to be like the older brother, so Drew lost 80# and has kept it off. He does Price is Right. He said he was a marine, and he knew how to be fit, but hadn't, so he changed while he still had the chance.

Sending virtual hugs; it sounds like you have a big heart and that's what the world needs right now.
