Seems like only yesterday it was mid-winter and I was just starting this journey at an uncomfortably obese 210 pounds, making a pre-New Year's resolution backed up by a solid plan. In the first 4 months, I lost 27 pounds--a proud accomplishment!
Weight-loss progress has stalled since April--I maintained in May. I needed to focus on other things, and backed off the whole process for a couple of weeks. But I don't care as much what the scale says anyway. Most of my old clothes now fit again, I feel good and I'm happy with how I look.
Knocked off several other important goals in May: I completed coursework for a certificate program and am working on the final project now. I got good feedback from two job interviews.
I also continued my running streak. Sore legs forced me to ease up on my schedule for a couple of weeks, but today I FINALLY ran 1 full mile for the first time, plus another half mile of intervals! I'm running consistently again, and am enjoying it very much. I'm signed up for a virtual race at the end of June.
Campgrounds are closed, but I did go on a 5.2 mile hike that was hilly and very challenging. It's so important to get out in nature.
And the big thing: I have avoided contracting COVID-19 and my family is all healthy, too. I did have some health challenges in May--an allergic reaction and a strained neck and back--but I've fully recovered from both.
So as for goals in the month ahead, I do want to lose 4 lbs in June, just to get out of the 180s. I'll do better at meal planning, need to cut down on snacks, and no beer or wine for a few weeks. I've got a birthday coming up in July--I'll celebrate then!
Wishing you all the best with your summer goals!
