Protest to Riots

Sunday, May 31, 2020

Cleveland, sadly, has gone from peaceful protest to violent rioting, burning police cars and property destruction. Last night was particularly frightening for me when a group of 5 threatened to break down a patio door on the ground floor of the apartment building I live in. The vulgar, threatening language had me prepared to dial 911. Someone opened a secured door near them and they calmed down but entered the building. After that, before 7AM, the fire department a block from me went out with sirens 3 separate times. The mayor placed the city under curfew starting at noon today extending to 8AM tomorrow. I've chosen not to even open my apartment or balcony doors.
We've had a 'tragic trifecta' - stress from prolonged shelter-in-place, warmer weather and George Floyd's death.
May we have justice, peace and kindness for all.

Here in the Cincinnati area, we are also having riots. More people are gathering tonight that last night. I don't live near downtown. However, there is always a threat for all of us.

    Stay safe. emoticon

I live in an Eastern suburb of Cleveland. It was suggested that there would be riots at our neighborhood malls. All I have seen so far is a couple of parking lot fights.

So sad the world has come to this. We need God back in our lives. These people do not know God as they would not act in this manner. I have lived through this in the 60s with Kings death. I was 3 blocks from where he was killed and was trying to get out of town. It was a nightmare. Such frightening times.

OMG, how frightening to have a threatening incident right in your apartment building. I'm with you - I wouldn't open or leave my apartment.

It is very sad how much violence is going on. Prayers for peace and serenity. Stay safe.

I miss the days when protests over issues was done quickly as sit ins or just general marching protest vs these who are burning down communities.. hurting more over the actions of one policeman .

We are dealing with enough now with a virus that has killed over 104.000 as of today. With their protests, most are not wearing masks and that is going to start more waves of the virus being spread as well as dealing with all the actions of the protestors.

I saw people in London today protesting and they were doing it in an orderly way.

Just praying they stop soon ,

Praying for all who live in areas where this is going now
