Day... What happended?

Well, I am apparently part of the group who has lost track of time during the quarantine. I have been spending my days either hand sewing masks or hanging out with Charleston at our friend's house. She has a fenced in backyard and Charleston's girlfriend. We have finally been able to get back to hiking since Ohio is practically open now and everyone has done a mass exodus of the parks. It has been amazing for me and Charleston to be back in the woods. The last few days I have been letting him off-leash on the really obscure trails to see how he does and he is doing beyond what I expected. He listens so well. He might bunny hop through the tall weeds and plants a bit but as soon as I call his name he is right back to me. He has been especially missing the hikes too and so this is just an extra boost I can do for him so he can chase the chipmunks a bit and feel good. We have both been out nonstop in this sunny weather. I have been burnt to a crisp twice and now have a decent tan. Charleston just continues to layout in it. He refuses to come in when it is really sunny unless he gets super hot. He is also really loving all the delivery people who spoil him with treats. We had a new delivery driver the other day who was petrified and I just had to let him know that Charleston isn't vicious he is just asking where his treats are. The guy apologized to Charleston and promised to bring some when he comes back. That dog is something else.

My weight is all over the place right now. I am trying to intuitively eat but also lose weight and sometimes they don't match up but I also don't want to be on a diet. Since my mental health issues happened in October I have stayed pretty much in the same 6-pound space which is good that I am not packing the pounds on but I still have a bit more weight that I would like to lose. I just keep reminding myself to not be too hard on myself as I have realized that the harder I am on myself, the less likely I am to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I have become a crazy plant lady during this time! I have a bunch of indoor plants (anthurium, snake plant, Croton, spider plant, aloe plant, and a clover plant) and a bunch of outdoor plants (3 tomatoes, 2 peppers, 2 cilantro, 2 basil, oregano, sage, thyme, mint, and rosemary). It all started so innocently and then it exploded. I do really enjoy having all of the plants inside though, it makes the house feel nice. I think it all stemmed from my lack of the woods since I couldn't hike for 2 months.

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out here! I do appreciate everyone who has reached out to me and offered me parking in other areas to hike and just to check in on me! I really am so proud to be a member here and know all of you!

    emoticon emoticon Hi, Charleston! Those are treats for you. My fox terrier mix nibbled on carrots readily, and my older son's dogs loved it when I gave them the salmon skin--great for your eyes and coat. I hear you're enjoying the outdoors and the hikes. Good boy!

    Sounds like you're having a hey day with plants. Some of those indoor plants are great for cleaning your air. You'll enjoy all those herbs when it comes to cooking. I use fresh basil (I subbed for parsley when I didn't have any fresh) in my remoulade sauce for fish. I got the recipe from Paula Deen's old show and have been using it ever since. She was making pecan-crusted tilapia. The Joy of Cooking has a version of the sauce, too, that includes a tablespoon of finely-chopped cucumber.

    Thank you for the flower bouquet goodie. The cough is subsiding and I'm getting lots of sleep. My DIL made some elderberry syrup and gave me a jar. One teaspoon once a week if well, 1 t. 3x/day if sick. I'm feeling better and the flowers were such a bright spot in my day. emoticon
