Torn Rotator Cuff

Wednesday, May 27, 2020

I've been having issues with my shoulder for almost a year. A couple weeks ago I went to get an MRI; all the physical therapy I was doing wasn't really making any progress on the pain. I found out I have a tear in two places and that it is somewhat normal. They don't even recommend I get surgery at this point. Seems odd to me. It can't heal. All I can do is strengthen the surrounding areas to help take the work off of the injured area. Don't get me wrong, I do not want surgery. I read somewhere that my issue brings the most pain and rehab with surgery in that area. That doesn't sound fun. And on top of it, it is my dominant arm so that would make working and doing pretty much anything I'm used to out of the question.

So, instead I keep doing my therapy and I schedule an appointment to get a cortisone shot and see if that helps. If it doesn't then surgery might be an option but I think I would only get it if not getting it was worse.

I just hope I get better. I want to be able to play catch, shoot hoops, and hit a baseball again. Not to mention being able to put on and take off a bra without pain. Or how about scratch my own back. I can't even scoop ice cream emoticon or cut a pizza emoticon. emoticon It's also really difficult to reach out or up especially with any weight in my hand. So, yes, I need to get better. I don't even want to think about not being able to go to work (thank God for disability insurance though) and my husband waiting on me hand and foot. Ok, that last one wouldn't be so bad!!! Still not worth it though.

Have a great night. Stay in the fight. Don't give up. Work your plan. emoticon
