Following on from yesterday's successful meet-up with my friend in the Memorial Garden - today I took another friend to the same place. Even though she lives quite nearby, she'd never been there (less adventurous than me!).
It was a beautiful day again, sunshine, warm (hot even in the direct sun) and peaceful. We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the country and enjoy the fresh air which comes from being surrounded by sea.
It was another step for me too - because today I met my friend outside her house, and we walked to the Garden together; she had her little dog with her, and we kept 2m apart, which meant a lot of road-crossing, and stopping from time-to-time. Today we met several other people who all observed the social distancing - stepping back and waiting for us to pass, or vice-versa, or crossing the road etc. I didn't need to put my mask on at all today - which was nice.
It's made me feel a bit braver - perhaps I might be brave enough to go out on my bicycle some day soon.
On my walk home there was one young chap riding his bicycle on the pavement (with shopping on the handlebars) - I moved into the road and stood between two parked cars with my back to him as he passed; he called out "Good 2m distancing skills! thanks!" That felt like quite a cool compliment.
