Much done at the village!
Friday, May 22, 2020
Met a friend for coffee first. We social distanced but had a great time catching up!! Then off to the village. I was scheduled to help set up a display of glass but the two guest curators said they did not need help.
With the exception of my backpack, out of frame, all these bags and totes were things for the loom house and Mennonite Museum!
Before the end of the day everything was used or put where it will be used in the near future - warps that are ready to thread on the looms, extra fiber in baskets ready to spin, etc.
I made progress on the big loom with the sparkly warp.
When I start designing a project I have a picture in my head of how something should turn out (past experience working here) and now that I am working with this actually on the loom I might have to change my weft to keep it soft, light, and sparkly. What I was planning to use might end up being too heavy - in thickness and color. We will see what happens in the first two inches. That will be enough to let me know if things are going to work or I need to stash dive to find something else to weave with to keep it soft, light, and sparkly.
The little loom - she is off and running.
Before I left for the day all the hemstitching was done and twice as much woven as shown here.
Plus I had a little time to spin on the wheel that is creating yarn to weave fabric for a skirt. At least that is the plan for what it is to be when it grows up.
