It Had Been Awhile

Friday, May 22, 2020

It had been 10 full weeks and the Malls in our area were closed. Many of the stores in North Carolina did open for business on May 9th and several more under phase 2 on March 22. I had ordered some shoes to pick up curbside on Friday. My daughter came over and decided she would go with me and maybe do a little shopping. We found it interesting with fewer people and it seemed that wearing masks was only 50% maybe. Most people were distancing and following the arrows marked off for traffic flow while others paid no attention at all.
Some were just happy to be out and about! We found many of the stores were closed and some had signs on the door with a phone number to call if you wanted to enter their store. I found that I really could ride the escalator without touching the hand rail but , I really had to concentrate to do it. The sales associates seemed scared to me and there were only a few manned cash registers. I did purchase a tee shirt where they only had one register open in the floor we were on. Waited in line about 20 minutes while keeping distance. There were 5 people in line before me and of those 3 had on masks.
This will probably be my last trip to the Mall for weeks!

It's scary because so many customers are ignoring the signs, plus not wearing masks. Even ones wearing masks ignore the directional arrows and 6 ft marks. Guess they think wearing a mask makes them invincible.

I live in Arkansas and the last two days had dramatic jumps in cases, many of those traced back to the same neighborhoods and streets.

When I have to go to the store, I wear my mask and watch everyone like a hawk, working to get out as quickly as possible. Diabetic and turning 65 Tuesday. I need to be careful.

It is amazing how many people are not listening to the experts when it comes to social distancing

I don't know why some folks don't pay attention to social distancing and wearing masks. It's for everyone' good. We just have to give extra time since things take longer these days.

Groceries only in person so far. I think I'll wait to shop in person for a while longer since most people seem not to wear masks or gloves. Or pay attention to the 6' marks on the floor OR the directional arrows for aisles.
