Floody Tuesday

Tuesday, May 19, 2020

Last night the dam at Edenville near Wixom Lake failed, sending people into evacuation shelters. Our yard is flooded partially in front, do not know how much in back, since the grass is so high from not being able to cut it for a couple weeks due to the rain and DD being so ill.

The cabin we stay at is in Munising, right on M 28. We stayed there last year. Usually I stayed in Paradise, but we saw everything there we want to go to for awhile. We do want to back to Kitch-iti-kippee, but if the parks are not safe, regardless of them being open, I will not keep the reservation.
Our Traverse City area and parts of the U.P. will be open on Friday, but it is way too soon. Munising has had no deaths, Alger county being one of the few in Michigan with none. Watching the Texas and other states governors open states regardless of continued peaking and new cases, should tell anybody that can think, that it is not safe just to be outside.
SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE.
I value my life more than a hamburger or booze, so will stay home and be mature and curb my wants.

Lots of flooding from the lakes around me but we live in a high, dry area so that’s never been a problem.
I’m glad Michigan is so slow opening. I don’t understand the need to go out to eat or go fun shopping so badl that I’d risk my life & the lives of those close to me. Stay safe!

Yes, the count in our county has went from 2 to 121 in less than a week. DUH, don't that tell you something, stay home, and keep the business CLOSED. but some people just don't care, they only think of SELF-SATISFACTION and not care how many people they make sick. I know that people now live pay check to pay check and they are hurting now, but if you have money to go to cafes and bars, you surely have money for your food and rent with a little help. Really is that hamburger or a glass of wine worth a life. People just make me so angry, what has happened to our morals.

Yes, for sure I am taking it slow and easy here, too. Things are opened up a little, but too fast. The #'s are showing that. So . . . I'll stay put!

Flooding here yesterday, too, (after 6.1 in. of rain from Sunday night into yesterday). We're fine, though, it's the area around our river that's flooded and farmer's fields look like swamps. **SIGH**

HUGS and hope DD is feeling better.
