Checking In/Knee

Sunday, May 17, 2020

Hello! Today would normally be my weigh in and measurements day, but I am bloated and can't make it down the stairs to the scale in the basement exercise room because of my knee.

I got my new knee injection on last Monday, and I didn't connect the dots this last week because I really wanted to not have a reaction to it and I wanted it to work. I think I may be having a mild allergic reaction to it, not sure. I did over 30 minutes of cardio in my sleep, I do know that, on Tuesday after my injection. Could be any number of things I guess, but that was bizarre to say the least. And I have not been able to get enough sleep it seems (meaning I have been sleeping WAY more than normal, and even with that, am still groggy tired all the time), I have not been able to stay awake in the mornings. I don't normally have that problem, I thought maybe I was getting depressed again, but I'm just feeling run down and exhausted feeling. NO fever. The only cough is from my allergies. I had one night where I forgot to take my nasal spray and ended up with it not working enough for me to get more than almost 2 hours of sleep. But I it was that day that my knee decided it had enough and gave out on me. Up on it too much I guess. That was yesterday.

My knee has felt rough all week. Like a too loose hinge with all the screws coming off! It's painful and weird. It feels puffy and bloated and achy. Like a storm was about to come, but no storms in the forecast. Well, yesterday was the straw that broke the camel's back. I had climbed up the step ladder to fix the spice cabinets a few times, and then stepped outside on the front porch. Coming in, just stepping up over the door frame, my knee went 'no' and out it went! I didn't end up on the floor, thankfully, being in the door frame with the bench in front of me I was able to catch myself, but omg did it hurt! And it was so unsteady. Even my hip was trying to make up for it and was hurting and out of whack! My DD13 helped me out a lot and got what I needed and reminded me to ice it, constantly, lol. She has been a huge help, yesterday and today.

Today I was back to sleeping a lot. Even with the thumpy bass playing church behind us, I slept.

Needless to say, I didn't get much exercise in this week, nor did I meet my step count goal. I only met my cardio goal that one day, in my sleep. I'm not sure what goal to set for myself for this upcoming week for fitness. I'm going to call ortho in the morning and see what is going on and what I should do. I'm going to cancel my PT appointment and reschedule for after I see what ortho says.

I did manage to get up early and go grocery shopping on Friday, with DD13 helping me. We left early, got coffee and headed to the store as soon as it opened. Jackpot! Got what we needed. And now I'm eating mostly Paleo, with the exception of trying my breads that I make. Sourdough bagels are SO GOOD! Yum! And my crockpot Hawaiian chicken came out beautifully and I've made yummy Paleo wraps with it twice now.

Okay. I'm ka-put. Exhausted again. Going to bed early. At least it is Sunday and I can say it is the day of REST (as DH put it) so i should rest.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

I hope, by the time you read this comment, that you are well on the mend. I tweaked my ankle yesterday and can barely stand, so I will get lots of work done while being a couch potato...…………..

    I totally relate!

Last week I had a seizure and fell. I broke a tiny bone on top of my foot, the long ones that go to the toes. My opposite knee is sometimes a "trick knee,' and all week it was just that. My scale is also downstairs from the main living area so I have no idea when I will be weighing in again.

I feel grateful that I was so tired that whole week as it certainly helped me be immobile without terrific boredom. Listened to two books from the Libby App and slept. I was also away from my computer that entire week (for the reasons mentioned above) and did not get to say Hi to you and thank you for participating in my 6 Cups a Day drinking challenge. I see you did fabulously! I did not realize it was only for 1 week (as it was the first time I've created a challenge). So I just re-created it but for 90 days (you can see my blog about it if you wish). Here's the link to the new 90-Day version of the challenge, I hope you will join in (this time I'll be able to track online!)

Purple is my favorite color, by the way! emoticon

Oh, I wish you had better news; I'm so sorry about your pain. But, all you can do is all you can do. It'll heal, just let it heal. emoticon

Your goal this week should be rest. Maybe do a chair routine for upper body only. Of paleo is recent, make sure you aren't missing any nutrients, micro or macro. Hope you feel better soon.
