Wonderful Day Out
Saturday, May 16, 2020
My son took me out for the day. It was in the 80's and the sun was shining.
We drove to Elizabethton, Tennessee to Sycamore Shoals Historical Place and went in the visitors center wearing our masks, of course. Talked with a volunteer there about my 6th great grandfather, John Reneau/Reno and learned a couple things about where his property was and such. He had a tavern and meetings about the future State of Franklin were supposedly held their. His granddaughter married Samuel Tipton. Then we walked outside to Fort Watagua and walked around. Learning about the history during my 6th great grandparents time.
After that we drive towards Roan Mountain but my son decided to go on over into North Carolina. We ended up in Marion, North Carolina. Went through the Burger King drive thru to pick.up a very late lunch. I was starving it was after 4pm and I hadn't eaten. Then we hit I-40 to Asheville where we hit I-26 back to Johnson Tennessee.
It was a long day but being out and being in the mountains really boosted my spirits.
I love the mountains as much as I do the beach. It's nature at it's best. I feel my best surrounded by nature. I guess that's why I love it here at my brother's house.
Tonight was more work on the inventory I have to do of my brother's stuff. Found things that made me laugh instead of cry like my brother's magic stuff. My head was too big to put in the box. We couldn't get the door to slide in so I could show my son the disappearing head trick or the arrows in the head. So many memories with that!
When we got back to the house my left knee was killing me. Took OTC pain reliever and now I can walk okay. It's been giving me problems since March 12th.
No plans for the weekend just the wait and see what we feel like tomorrow. Some of the area hugh schools are having graduation parades tomorrow.
Take care. Stay safe. Sending you all love and hugs.
