Feeling motivated!

Friday, May 15, 2020

It occurred to me that in the past when I would go to the Premium Coaching (on the full website, not the mobile version) and I came to the page that asks how I did completing the previous day's challenge, making healthy food choices, being physically active and my motivation level, I would often be recording something on the low end of the choices. I had hardly any motivation, thus affecting the rest of the things I need to do on my journey to lose weight and be healthy.

Lately though, since I have restarted the Premium Coaching, my attitude is completely different! I still slip sometimes (for six days recently!) but I know what I have to do, and I just do it! I am not perfect by any means, but I know that if I keep at it, I will see results.

One thing I do is to weigh myself daily, or nearly so. This is not necessarily encouraged on SparkPeople, but it is one of the things that I found motivating for me on Noom. When I first start out, seeing the number going down, or up, is helpful to me because I know what I need to do to make the number change. But I don't obsess about it! It is what it is--a number on the scale, an indicator. It isn't the end all/be all.

I realize I'm going all over the place in this blog. Not my best example of writing. But I guess my main point is that no matter the number on the scale, no matter whether I overate or stayed within calorie limits, I am not swayed by the circumstances. Maybe, in the case of weight loss, I have learned to be content.

"I am not saying this out of need, for I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances. I know how to live humbly, and I know how to abound. I am accustomed to any and every situation—to being filled and being hungry, to having plenty and having need. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:11-13
