I am going to challenge this statement. You do NOT get back what you put in. You get way more.
If I exercise even just a little, let's say 30 minutes a day I walk (which is pretty much what I do). That 30 minutes gives back with a long list of "givebacks".
1) lower blood pressure
2) better cholesterol numbers
3) lower A1c
4) improved stability....I don't fall so much
5) better sleep
6) improved psychological well being
7) Hossa (dog) gets so happy!
There's more, I just want to keep this short.
30 minutes is an awesome price to pay for all that healthiness and longevity. I saw someone posted that 1 hour is only 4% of your day, so do the math, 30 minutes is a tiny blip in this world.
