Thought and Prayer for Friday, April 10, 2020

Friday, April 10, 2020

For every end, there is a new beginning. Some say for every closed door, there is an open door with even greater opportunities. We can’t allow difficulties and hardships to overcome us. When we see hard times as the end rather than the beginning of something new and better, we aren’t focused on God. Our God is a God of hope and when we trust in Him in hard times, He will give us hope and peace.

Jesus knew His life on earth was finished on the day He was crucified. He also knew it was not the end. His cry “It is finished” meant His work on earth was done. He knew there was more to come and that days ahead would bring hope to the people rather than sorrow. We have God’s word to bring us hope for the future. We have the assurance Jesus died for our sins to know we have a bright and eternal life ahead despite what gloom and doom we are experiencing now. Let’s meditate on God’s word and thank Him for Jesus who died on the cross for our sins.

John 19:28-30 “Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, ‘I am thirsty.’ A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, ‘It is finished!’ Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” (NLT)

1. Write what you feel like is over in your life.
2. List what new beginnings are coming.
3. Know Jesus ended His life on earth for you to have a new life.
4. Thank God for Jesus and meditate on His word.

Dear Lord, we are so grateful for Jesus. We are thankful for what He gave up so we could live. We know His end on earth was just the beginning. He died so we may live. Help us to see things differently in our lives so we don’t fret about things we believe are the end but instead see them as new beginnings and new opportunities to meditate on Your word and live in obedience to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Matthew 20:19 “Then they will hand him over to the Romans to be mocked, flogged with a whip, and crucified. But on the third day he will be raised from the dead.” (NLT)

Matthew 27:50-52 “Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead.” (NLT)

Hebrews 10:20 “By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place.” (NLT)

This month we focus on meditating on God’s word. Practice meditating on God’s word all throughout the day for the next 30 days. Experience and journal the changes God makes in your mind, heart, words and actions. Thank Him for these changes as you draw closer to Him. And remember God is in control!
