I lost a high school friend tonight. We graduated from a high school in Nova Scotia back in 1963. Both of us ended up in Ontario. We had an opportunity to meet for coffee a couple of years ago when my husband and I were passing by the town where he and his wife live. We kept in touch on Facebook and always planned to meet up again someday.
On March 28, he reported that he was ordered to quarantine for 14 days. One week later, he was admitted to hospital. At first the reports coming from his wife sounded hopeful but then, not so much.
Tonight one of his sons reported that there were complications and the family had to make the difficult decision to allow their Dad to pass peacefully and without any pain.
I cannot imagine how difficult it must be for his wife. She couldn't be with him to say 'good bye'. No one can give her the comfort of a hug. The funeral will come later.
Please follow the advice we are hearing from the experts and "Stay the Blazes Home" (to quote Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil.)
