Working it out... and a cranky elbow...
Wednesday, April 08, 2020
The storms ended and left me a WARM sunny day for running. I got started by 8:15am in 57 degrees and low wind. SHORTS! Wow. It's the first day in a long time I've worn those for an outside run. Since the rest of the week will see iffy running weather, I decided to get in a speed workout to meet my "quarantine weekly minimum goal" for speed workouts. I started out doing right about 1/4 mile intervals (one hard, one easy). Even when my watch battery died (whoops), I was able to stretch the workout to 4 miles by doing streets instead of minutes (3 streets hard, 2 streets easy). I ended up with a little over 5 miles of total running, very acceptable after the 10 miles yesterday.
And, I was good and got in my upper body strength workout yesterday. Except, well, I was bad and did it despite a cranky elbow from a past workout. Now I have a REALLY cranky elbow. Actually it feels like a muscle strain running from beside the elbow around into the forearm - I even feel some impact all the way down to the wrist. So, I'll be taking a temporary pause from upper body workouts - at least from moves that aggravate said cranky elbow.
As a reminder to myself, that does NOT mean I get a pass from the lower body and core workouts!!! I'll decide on the posture exercises after I see how those impact the elbow.
Still, it could be worse. And I had a nice run on a lovely day. And I'm safe, healthy, stocked up on everything I need, my thermometer should arrive today so I can monitor myself for early warning signs in case I DO get sick (and thereby can hopefully avoid making M sick), very well situated to continue my work at home lifestyle, and just very, very fortunate all around. I feel enormous gratitude for that and to all of those whose efforts, while not specifically directed toward me, still enable me to be so fortunate.
Positive thoughts to all - and gratitude toward anybody doing good in any way!
