A day at the grocer
Saturday, April 04, 2020
My husband has been very good about not going out to shop every day. But when he has to leave the house for a medical appointment, he can't resist taking a detour to visit his friends, the clerks and managers of his favorite grocery store.
Thursday, was one such day. He took his usual putsy time securing his purchase and had checked out and went to get his car. When he got back to "pick up", his groceries were gone! They were able to determine that they had been put into someone else's trunk...overworked help. It took another hour for staff to reconstruct his order and they also gave him a $20 gift card.
Aside from that, he had bought a "pick three" ticket with my birthdate on it. It hadn't yet run out, but he did not expect to get back to the store soon so went to replace it. Miscommunication between him and the clerk (I won't go into details) resulted in him getting a ticket for one day with the same numbers twice and a second ticket for seven days with the same numbers twice. He didn't make a fuss, just took his tickets. That gave us five tickets for the same night with the same numbers. And it hit! I was excited because I knew the first ticket had won. I didn't yet know about the other four chances!
Sally should appreciate what a wonderful day we had. Coincidentally, he had planned to cook a special meal that day to try a new recipe. That was a couple of days that had to be shared.
I hope everyone else is finding ways to enjoy staying home.
