Fired up again

Friday, April 03, 2020

I can't listen to the news anymore. It is just so scary but yet I want to know whatever I can about what is happening. One of my brothers called this morning and wanted to know if I was making masks and could I send him 17. Six of them sized for kids. Told him I'd mail them to him on Mon. So I knuckled down today and finished 18 and cut a bunch more. I even figured out the one several hospitals are asking for. I made one and have 4 more almost completed. Basically because I cut them out 4 at a time.

Then after the speeches today it has been decided that every person in Minnesota needs to wear a mask when they are out. I'm thinking I'll work really hard this weekend and on Monday when I see my friends school bus handing out lunches I'll take her a bunch more for kids and she can give them at the same time.

Eating again was a catch what you can when you can. I did make a pan of friend rice but put too much meat and veggies in it. But it is still going to get eaten because it will heat so nice and quick for the next couple of days.

Thank fulls
1. a push from family to get busy again
2. 18 masks finished today and part of a star
3. there was a short blast of very bright sun this afternoon....hope it comes back tomorrow

I'm going to really work hard kind of like at retreat for the next couple of days. Buck gave up trying to get me to lay down so he could cuddle and found a nice spot to watch me from in the sewing room. Right in front of the space heater.

I spent a long time on the phone yesterday with someone in our community who is making masks, seeing if we could figure out a better way to marshal the resources of all the folks in the valley who want to help without having it go through HER house. (There was an article in the paper about what she's doing, and she's had people dropping materials off on her front porch - much more than she's able to handle). We talked about putting the masks into ZipLock bags to keep them clean, along with a printed sheet of instructions about how to wear, washing, etc. Our state also came out with the recommendation that we wear masks so folks like DH and I (who don't have a sewing machine) will be experimenting with our dish towels!

We listen at least to the news at dinner time, national and local--those 2 will be enough for now.
I worked a bit on getting a few more masks ready to hand sew for Jim and I, we were them if we go out, which isn't a whole lot. Did the laundry today, took me longer s had to clean out the washer tub as something went in the washer with kleenix in a pocket---know it was my sweatshirt with the front pocket. So getting the mess off the load of dark clothes and the tub cleaned took awhile, but did finish all the wash. Just got done playing with the dog, now she up on the couch sleeping on her blanket.
Have a wonderful time on your sewing marathon the next few days.

We also listen to the local news and found that tomorrow at 5 PM, the masks are to be worn when outdoors. So we will abide. We are still in the south so have this local news and then the StarTribune for news there. You are doing a good job with getting the masks out to everyone. Awesome!! And I know they thank you as well!
