The New Normal

Friday, April 03, 2020

Seems like it is time to add a new blog to my spark page. When I started this journey in 2016 it seemed like I had a lot to say about all the "diets" I had been on for the majority of my life. Now that it is 2020 I don't seem to have as much to say. The other stories I have read over the years seem to be so inspiring that my little story isn't so important. I have learned a lot from my fellow Spark friends and have put much of it to use in my new life as a healthy eater rather than a constant dieter. That said I now fast forward to the beginning of March 2020 when something called the coronavirus showed up as a small news blip and within a week it had spread to most of the rest of the world. Now a lot of us are in self isolation and some of us are in complete lockdown. I was fortunate enough to get a run of the mill common chest cold that kept me in the house since the first week of March. I feel lucky to be able to stay home but not so lucky to be in the vulnerable age group (those over 65) and with so many people out of work I am also lucky to have my pension to rely on for the time being. Both of my kids were lucky enough to get really good jobs last year and now both of them are unemployed with no word as to when or if they will be called back. That leads me to the people who are still at work, the grocery store clerks, pharmacy staff, nurses, doctors, and others who keep us safe, fed and protected to the best of their ability with little or no thought for their own safety. To those people I tip my hat and say a huge heartfelt "THANK YOU!!! I owe you big time. To wrap up this meandering blog I do know that this too shall pass and we will be back to normal but as the title says it will most likely be a whole "New Normal." We are strong, we are inventive and we will survive. I send my blessings to all who take the time to read this and hope they are doing everything they can to keep themselves and others as safe as possible.

Well said,,indeed you learn to have a life style attitude rather than a "dieters" attitude.
Yes those that are on the front lines are literally putting their lives on hold to make sure the rest of us have care and food , plus the other necessities of life.
Take care , be safe and continue looking towards the future!

Every story is a good story. It is amazing the people who are still working - all the medical people, the grocery stores, the people who clean and maintain the hospital/clinics, the trash collectors, the people who keep the electricity and water flowing. I thank them all.

You have a very positive attitude that makes me feel better about this virus. I will be fine but I miss my coworkers and shopping. We shall get thru this!
