On and On and ON

Wednesday, March 25, 2020

I've only been stuck in my house now for 10 days. I have been to the store twice but once for the elastic I ordered for pick up. In general I'd say I'm pretty good at social distancing because I like to be at home working on my stuff.....but I'm beginning to feel like a captive. My children remind me that I'm a good example of this disgusting new politically correct word.

I cooked myself a nice meal today and washed and pressed 3 doz. masks to put in the mail tomorrow. My local quilt shop has asked for masks for the local hospital but they are much harder to make than the ones I've started making. I don't even think I'll give that kind a try. I don't have all the kinds of fabric they request even.

Thank fulls
1. my DIL delivered the masks my friend had them pick up to a hospital in Seattle, They very much appriciated them.
2. Spring is coming (it snowed a bit today)
3. Without my phone, computer and TV well those things are important right now

I'm having a big day out tomorrow. I'm going all 5 blocks to the post office to mail a small package and pick up my mail. Then I'm going to come home and work on another 3 doz. masks and find more people that need them. I post a photo of the pile in the morning. I washed them all tonight and pressed in the pleats again. So exciting!

DH and I were talking about how different things would be if this had happened 25-30 years ago! Remember not talking long on the phone because "long distance is costing you a fortune"? (A famous phrase my mom used to say to me). We didn't have an Internet like the one we're using today, and likely would have needed to depend on local news broadcasts on our TV to know that an area hospital needed masks. Even though it's difficult not being able to do so many of the things we typically include in our routine, I'm glad I've got a lot of "virtual friends" I can still connect with!

You have really gotten a lot of masks done in a very short time. Glad you are staying in as you can. I am still in TX. (actually quite close to Fran) and we have the order to shelter in within our county here. We read that our county at home when to shelter in place as well. So we do the best we can as our park has shut everything down including the pools. So the only reason for us to go out is to take our dinner over to mom's house and have dinner with her. Our little dog hears the word golf cart and runs to it. Also for groceries and meds. Got a puzzle I am having a terrible time doing so spend time thinking and looking :-)

You have been really going full tilt with the masks, great job. My hubby asked me if I could make some for us, I said yes but the first one will be hand sewn if possible. Bringing my new machine into the repair shop tomorrow, to Mc Allen which is about 20 minutes away, maybe quicker if there isn't much traffic. In the morning will be going to ceramics to work on a couple of projects. I did the laundry today, did got a walk in and played with the dog off and on today. She loves having the ball thrown so she can go catch it. I asked the dog today if she was my supervisor as every time she hears me lift the washer cover or the dryer door she comes a running and watches me. If something falls on the floor like the dryer sheet she is right there to pick it up. Then I have to chase her to get it back---little stinker.
