Positive Actions Over the Weekend

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Sunday, March 22, 2020

Hi everyone

I hope you had a good weekend staying safe and healthy.

Here are some of my positive actions over the past several days:

1) I can tell that many people are starved for social interaction. When I take Flash for walks around the neighborhood, I've had good conversations with some neighbors.

2) I'm trying to catch up on some tasks my wife wanted me to do around the house. Always a good thing :).

3) I'm making sure to chat with my kids and do things with them like toss football with my youngest.

My fitness highlight today was a bunch of sprints around the neighborhood.

How are you doing? Any positive actions to report or ones you can plan for the next day to put on your to-do list?

SparkCheers!

Chris (SparkGuy)

We are also making great progress on projects around the house. I am lucky enough to be able to work from home but my husband teaches guitar so that's come to a standstill. He is working on a good online method of teaching so hopefully that will work out.

After the first couple weeks we figured out that we have to get into a routine to get everything accomplished. This is what we are doing:
    Get up consistently at 7
Spend about 30 minutes on devotions
Take the dog out for a walk for about 30 minutes
Shower and get dressed in real clothes
    Work
    Lunch/tv break
    Work
    Eat dinner
Walk the dog for another 30 minutes
    Accomplish a short project together
    Hobby/TV/Computer time
    To bed by 10:30

I am much more comfortable having this schedule than I was just winging it!

Everyone stay happy, healthy and productive!

    1. The roommates and I got thorough spring cleaning accomplished.
    2. I am blessed to work from home.
    3. I am learning to make meals with only a few ingredients.
    4. I give up items from my belongings every day for the 40 Days of Lent.
    5. I found a DIY hand sanitizer on YouTube in case we run out.
    6. A friend gave craft supplies to work on crafts in case I want to pull my hair out.
    7. My landlord is bringing me a Keurig today because my office Keurig broke. No mochas, no work.
    8. I pray for my loved ones every day.

A good answer to the coronavirus is an online connection to a religious site. I see religion not as a refuge of the weak, but the foundation of strength by which the individual and the public is able to master the environment without becoming complacent victims. A spiritual life is the cornerstone of living in spite of all the progress and great benefits which the physical sciences have bestowed on mankind. Even through, in general, mankind has a longer more comfortable life, a life freer from physical pain, and a life filled with interesting pastimes and educational experiences; there is no evidence that individuals are happier, families are more united, political bodies are wiser, or that disease and wars are less likely. With the onset of the coronavirus, the truth is we all need an inward sense of well-being, a purpose for living, a feeling of connection to our community and faith in our leaders. A connection to a church, whether online or not, best fills that need. Bob

    Positive actions:
-- Staying home ....helping to reduce both the spread of the virus and my own chance of infection, especially since I belong to 2 high risk --re

--limiting my time watching news reports to what I need to keep informed, thereby not increasing stress by repeated exposure to scary news
--using what we have creatively....to reduce boredom, increase nutritional value, and being grateful for h----ow well we are supplied
--Listening to more music--it fills the silence, creates beauty and is soothing
--reaching out to friends and family via non-in-person ways--video conferencing, e-mail, telephone

Yes! You are so right! Many are starved for social interaction! Therefore, I have converted to the term “physical distancing” instead of "social distancing". When we practice physical distancing, we need social connectivity and social responsibility more than ever!

As soon as I get clearance from my eye doctor to being able to bend and lift, I will be starting spring cleaning of the house, ( hoping that clearance happens Tuesday). Going to be hot this week here in south Texas in the 90's most of the week, nice weather to get outdoors a bit too.

Your #2... 👏👍😁Good job! Sounds like you’ve covered a lot this weekend. I love how Flash is helping too. Take special care of yourself and family.

    So far today
    1) I’ve sorted out some boxes in the basement
    2) Went to the vet to stock up with three month supply of both cats’ prescription meds
    3) Helped hubby put office chair together (Was just delivered this afternoon) because he is now working from home
    4) Organized two cupboards in the kitchen
    5) Called or texted family and several elderly friends

On Saturday I started a group email for my large development so that people can list their needs/struggles and one of us can help them. It’s really been neat to see people respond on both sides. We all need to support each other. Sunday I was completely lazy!!

I have been crafting - projects that I bought the supplies for years ago are out of the closets and getting done.

Have interacted over the phone and through social media with members of my church family - we all keep checking on each other.

Blew my sisters' mind the other day by introducing them to the concept of video chatting ... not sure where they have been over the last several years but better late than never. We are planning a crafting chat session for next weekend!

I would like to say I walked the beach but alas the beach is closed. Friday we saw the sheriff's helicopter flying above and very low. Saturday they nabbed our 78 yo friend while walking the beach collecting some shells for her kindergartners! We got a good belly laugh planning how she could disguise herself. All kidding aside we've been walking the golf course with lots of social distancing. Reaching my step goal even if I have to walk in place!! Take care my spark friends!
