Love in the Time of Cholera, or hiking in the time of Covid

Friday, March 20, 2020

My local walking group has suspended walks until April.
But we are encouraged to wander and walk, hike and ramble solo.

That graphic is from San Luis Valley Outdoors

Once the snow melts tomorrow, I’ll find a less populated path. Since masks fend off people, I’m hoping my bandana will do the same. And keep pollen at bay. Because any irritant is a big deal right now.
But enough about my housemates..lol.

Are you able to walk? Or are you sheltering in place?

The pollen is thick here too. I like the bandanna idea. Those cowboys were more than a pretty face, apparently.

Nice that you can get out and walk!

We're in Peru, had no advance notice that the shutdown would occur until we woke up Monday morning. No cars, no taxis, no buses - unless it's an emergency. We can walk to the supermarket or a pharmacy, and that's it. And no one outside between 8 PM and 5 AM.

Oh well, I dance around our room. At least this hotel has pretty large rooms!

I am outdoors as much as possible, no one near in my rural area to be concerned about infection. Taking daily anti-histamines for seasonal allergies as well, my nose is like a tap due to snow mould spores finding their freedom during the melt.

I live near the Appalachian Trail and help to maintain it--but as of a few days ago our club was told to cease and desist, at least until mid- April. All thru-hikers and section hikers were asked to get off the trail and either postpone and/or cancel their trips. That being said, I'm personally able to get out and hike (and that's a great thing). Hope you're able to get out and get some sunshine!
