Last Saturday, the 14th of March, the word went out that all schools in my county, including my district, would close until further notice due to the Covid19 pandemic. I am SO grateful for our union, because I will still be paid!
So, since I was planning to retire at the end of the 20-21 school year, I figured I would PRACTICE. Of course, other closings are keeping me from doing SOME of the things, like more regular trips with my daughter and grandkids to our local zoo
and museum and planetarium
Alas, the Jewish Community Center is also closed, so my friend and I can't do our 3x a week pool workout.
So, I dragged my stationary bike off the sunporch on Monday and started using it yesterday morning.
I also found my weights the other day, so I can do a workout with those. They're only a kilo, but it's a start!
I also want to do more art. I can't churn out my sculpted animals like I used to, especially the tinies, between arthritis and numbness in my hands and fingers (I'm going to talk to my doc about this tomorrow and see if I can get a referral to a neurologist). My daughter suggested I call the tinies a limited edition and charge double. Here's a sample, with a penny for scale.
I also want to do some paintings. I have some lovely photos of landscapes and market scenes from my trips to Peru and Ecuador.
And I found some canvases while organizing the "workroom"!
So, I'm not going to be bored during the closure...nor retirement!
